Suspected al-Shabaab insurgents interrogated in Guriel

Four suspected al-Shabaab insurgents have been captured and interrogated in Guriel on Saturday, officials told Mareeg online.

Sheik Abdirisak Mohamed Ali better known as Ashari, the spokesman of Ahlu Sunna Waljamaca religious organization said they have captured the suspected armed groups in Guriel town in central Somalia.

Ashari said they got details and displayed for the people in Guriel town for the suspected armed men and their car that they were traveling in the town and said that two of them confirmed that they were planning to plant mines in parts of Guriel town.

The spokesman said that the security forces of Ahlu Sunna Waljamea in Guriel town had captured 4 armed men in the centre of the town as they were traveling to Galkacyo town by a time the security forces were conducting search operations in the town.

“After long search, two of the four men confirmed they were planning to plant land mines and became criminals and they have been caught with explosives,” Ashari said.

Ahlu Sunna captured the town from al-Shabaab after a fierce battle that killed more than 30 people.
