Militant al Shabaab fighters captured a strategic town linking the capital Mogadishu to the central regions in Somalia on Sunday after fierce fighting that killed at least seven people, witnesses said.
"Al Shabaab captured Jowhar after serious fighting on Sunday morning," resident Ismail Farah told Reuters. "At least seven people, including four civilians died."
