Thousands of Somali civilians are displacing from their houses in Yaqshid and Wardhigley districts in the Somali capital Mogadishu in fear for their lives amid heavy fighting and shelling in the capital.
The neighborhoods which the people are largely displacing are Tawakal, Towfiiq,Arafat and Fagah in Yaqshid district and more other neighborhoods in Wardhigley district in Mogadishu where heavy shelling took place on Monday.
Yesterday's shelling had also affected many other no war zone districts in the capital like Waberi, Shibis and Bondgere in Banadir region.
"I have a three days old baby with other 6 children. Now I am fleeing from my house. We are fleeing our brothers and we are fleeing to Ethiopia," a Somali woman with her three days old baby on her chest told Shabelle radio.
"We remained here in Mogadishu for only three months since Ethiopian troops left the country so we are requesting from those involving the fighting to halt it as soon as possible and respect us and the poor civilians who don not know where to go," She added.
About 100 people were killed and 250 wounded in the past 5 days in heavy fighting in Mogadishu between the government soldiers and Islamist insurgent forces against the transitional government.
