Jijiga, January 22 (WIC) – Chief Administrator of the Somali State said the state is engaged in activities aimed at ensuring sustainable development of pastoralist communities.
The National Pastoralists’ Day was marked yesterday at regional level in Jijiga town. Speaking at the event, Dawud Mohamed Ali said that the state is exerting effort with a view to improving the livelihood of the pastoralists through ensuring sustainable development. Pastoralists in the state have become beneficiaries of development facilities and good governance as they have begun enjoying their constitutional right in resent years, he said. The government is undertaking activities to address the social and economic problems of pastoralists through expanding infrastructure facilities in the state, he said.
Model pastoralists, cooperative associations and investors engaged in livestock business as well as six woredas and kebeles in the region were awarded on the occasion.
