Campaigns for the Kamukunji by-election went a notch higher as aspirants traversed the constituency in search of votes.
Public Health minister Beth Mugo and assistant minister Ferdinand Waititu accompanied PNU's candidate Yusuf Hassan alias Johnny extolling the candidate's leadership qualities.
Mugo and Waititu joined Hassan for a Sunday service in Bahati area and urged residents to vote for someone with an impeccable record in leadership skills and a passion for development.
Hassan promised to address the plight of those he termed as the forgotten lot in the society and the persistent ghost of pathetic infrastructure in the constituency if elected.
ODM's Abdi Ibrahim meanwhile sought to persuade women voters to support his bid.
Ibrahim who addressed women voters in Shauri Moyo faulted his opponents saying he fought for the chance to represent the constituents when he petitioned the election of the former MP three years ago.
This he said was a clear indication that the peoples' needs were his core mandate that he wanted to fulfill.
He promised to change the face of Kamukunji within the one year remaining till the expiry of the current parliamentary term noting that his record within that short period would define 2012 elections.
Meanwhile Narc-Kenya's Brian Weke was on a meet-the-people tour where he promised to prioritize issues affecting the common man in the constituency if given that chance.
Over 90 thousand registered voters are expected to determine their next MP from five aspirants come the 23rd of this month.
The seat fell vacant after the court nullified the election of Simon Mbugua in another by-election in a case that dragged on for three years.
Mbugua will not be contesting the seat after he was locked out after his PNU party declined to give him direct nomination while his attempts to contest on another party's ticket were blocked by the Interim Independent Electoral Commission which ruled it unprocedural.
