The oil tanker Brillante Virtuoso is on fire after being attacked by Somali pirates Wednesday morning.
Sources in the Kenyan Navy say a fire broke out in the crew quarters and on the bridge during the attack forcing both the crew and the pirates to abandon the vessel (via Somalia Report).
All 26 crew members, thought to be Filipinos -- as well as the seven pirates -- escaped safely to lifeboats and the USS Philippine Sea is en-route.
Pirate attacks have been down recently due to monsoons, but are expected to pick up once again in the coming weeks.
