A Somali woman who hijacked a plane armed with three knives has been denied parole.
39-year-old Asha Ali Abdille was sentenced to nine years jail, with a minimum non parole period of six years, for the 2008 hijacking of the flight between Blenheim and Christchurch.
Abdille was a Somalian refugee, but had been living in New Zealand since 1994.
The Parole Board has decline her application on the grounds she could still pose a risk to the community if released.
A psychiatric report indicates she poses a high risk of violence and self harm.
