A St. Cloud man is being held in jail in lieu of $150,000 bail after being accused of threatening to kill a Somali man because he hated the prophet Mohammed and all Somalis.

Nehemiah Mathews, 34, was charged with two counts of making terroristic threats and one count of obstructing the legal process. Mathews is accused of threatening to kill a Somali man and then threatening to kill the officer who was arresting him.

The incident that led to his arrest happened at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday outside a residence in the 400 block of 33rd Avenue North. Mathews was shouting racial slurs and “indicated that he hated the prophet Mohammed and all Somalis,” according to a criminal complaint charging him.

Mathews was quoted as saying that he was going to burn the vehicles that were parked in the building’s parking lot and that he would write down all the license plates of the vehicles and give that information to his "KKK buddies," according to the criminal complaint.

St. Cloud police officers tried to arrest Mathews, but he didn’t comply and an officer used a Taser to get Mathews to comply. At one point, Mathews is accused of threatening to strap explosives to his body and blow up the officers.

He also told a St. Cloud officer that he was going to make the officer watch as he “executed the officer's children,” according to the complaint.
