The Istanbul-based Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH) has established a home for orphans in the Somali capital of Mogadishu.

IHH said in a statement that the construction of "Anatolia Education Centre" was completed and ready to serve as the biggest home for orphans in the country.

The centre was inaugurated by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahamud, Turkey's ambassador to Somalia Kani Torun and IHH deputy president Hasan Aynaci.

The centre includes a school, a building for teaching Qur'an, dormitory for boys and girls with the capacity of 400 students, sports centre, mosque, a health centre and some other places to meet the needs of the orphans.

Having carried out many projects in Somalia including humanitarian aid activities, building a water well and supplying patients with cataract operations, IHH is now ready to serve 1500 students in the new Anatolia Education Centre in Mogadishu.
