A federal jury today found a Somali immigrant guilty on all counts in a food-stamp fraud scheme that cheated taxpayers out of millions.
Shuceeb Geedi, 51, showed no emotion as he listened to the eight guilty verdicts read in U.S. District Court in Columbus.
Geedi was released on his own recognizance and will be sentenced later.
He had been charged with fraud, money laundering, conspiracy and theft for exchanging food stamps and Women, Infants and Children program vouchers for cash and phone cards at two Columbus markets that catered to the Somali community.
He and seven other men were indicted in January 2008 for the scheme, which stretched from January 2002 to August 2006 and involved $4 million.
