Somalia's Presidential Election Committee spokesman Osman Libah Ibrahim announced the criteria for presidential candidates at a news conference in Mogadishu on Saturday (September 1st).
Under the electoral committee's ten-point criteria, candidates must pay a $10,000 registration fee, should be Muslim, over 40 years of age and without a criminal record, Ibrahim said.
Another requirement states that candidates must have the support of at least 3 members of parliament in order to run, according to Ibrahim.
Presidential elections are scheduled to take place on September 10th, officially marking the end of transitional government in Somalia.
