Somalia Regains Control Over Its Air Space

By Maalik_eng

Somalia's minister for information Abdullahi Elmoge hersi said that Somali has regained control over its airspace after 19 years. He said this after meeting the international civil Aviation organization officials at Aden ADDE airport in Mogadishu.

"From today onwards Somalia is going to have full control and responsibility over its airspace" said the minister.

The minister said that 19 years ago the responsibility of controlling Somalia's airspace was transferred to the United Nations because the country did not have a central government but after electing a democratic government, the air space has been trusted to the new functioning government. He added that the control office was based in Nairobi but the office has officially moved to Mogadishu.

The minister finally said this is a milestone achievement from the federal government to regain control over its airspace control.
