Somali pirates have seized a Vietnamese-owned bulk carrier with a 24-member crew on board off the coast of Oman, reports said.
European Union's anti-piracy mission in the region (EUNAVFOR) said the Mongolian-flagged 'MV Hoang Son Sun' was attacked approximately 520 nautical miles south east of the port of Omani capital Muscat.
The 22,835-ton vessel was transporting cattle feed for a Chinese company from Iran when it was highjacked presumably on Wednesday night, the company that owns the cargo ship said.
The Company's maritime security department has sought the help of Vietnamese Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Currently, 30 vessels and 723 hostages are being held by pirates off the Somali coast.
