At least 43 more Somali children have lost their lives due to cholera as continued violence adds to the woes of people struggling with famine and drought, Press TV reports.
Doctors north of the capital Mogadishu also said on Saturday that 130 children had been rushed to hospitals suffering from symptoms of cholera.
Aid agencies say illnesses such as cholera, malaria, typhoid fever and measles in the coming months will spread among people whose immune systems have been depressed by severe malnourishment and poor sanitation.
Famine has spread to six regions in southern Somalia, which will endanger the lives of some 750,000 people in the months to come, the UN has warned.
Meanwhile, fresh clashes between al-Shabab fighters and Somali government forces backed by African Union (AU) troops have led to the death of at least 30 soldiers and forced many people in refugee camps to flee.
At least 25 civilians were killed and 54 others wounded on Friday when missiles fired from AU and Somali bases hit civilian districts in Mogadishu.
Violence has hindered efforts by aid agencies to dispatch food, medicine and other necessities to people in dire need of help.
Mogadishu Mayor Mohamed Tarzan has warned aid workers not to attempt to enter areas controlled by the al-Shabab group.
