The transitional federal government of Somalia has arrested at least 14 people including Turkish and Somali aid workers after delivering aid to famine stricken people in Al shabaab controlled area in southern Somalia.
Also some of Somali soldiers who involved in guarding those aid workers were taken into custody by Somalia's National Security Agency, according to Ahmed Abdullahi, Somali military officer in Mogadishu's Ex-Control Afgoye.
Mr. Abdullahi told Shabelle that they seized the aid workers and soldiers while passing through the checkpoint after returning from Al shabaab controlled refugee camp in Number 50 airport of Lower Shabelle region where they have conducted humanitarian aid related services.
Three of the arrested were Turkish, 7 Somalis and four soldiers as body guards, the officer explained.
Earlier, one of Turkish aid officials spoke to hundreds of famine displaced people in Alla Yasir just outside of Afgoye town where Al shabaab tightly controls. He said they will reach Bay, Bakool and Jubba regions to help the starving people.
