LEWISTON (NEWS CENTER) -- A photography exhibit at Bates College is showing the life of Somali refugees as they make their way from Africa to the United States.
The exhibit, called "The Somali Diaspora: A Journey Away" follows some families at different stages along their path to 3 states: Ohio, Minnesota and Maine.
Members of the Somali community said the artist, Abdi Roble, is doing a great service because most refugees don't bring many momentos or pictures of their past with them when they come to this country.
The photos are a way of preserving history.
The exhibit runs at the Bates Museum Of Art until May 29.
