AMISOM Commander: ‘We are very sorry our troops to kill, injure Somali civilians’

The force commander of the African Union troops AMISOM General NathanNathan Mugisha has expressed sorrowful for the incident that their forces opened fire at civilians in Mogadishu that killed 2 and wounded 7 others on Tuesday.

Speaking to the journalists in Mogadishu, the force commander of AMISOM troops said that they had jailed all the troops who fired to the people around the headquarter of the United Nations Development Program (UNPD) in Mogadishu adding that they still continued searching the grounds caused the forces to open fire.

“We have a report that 2 died and 7 others wounded. One of the injured is being treated in AMISOM’s hospital in Mogadishu. The other wounds are in Medina hospital. So we shall treat them if necessary, but we are very sorry and sorry for that, because we came here to help the Somali people to restore the peace and stability, but we did not come here to kill or wound any Somali,” said Nathan Mugisha.

The commander said that he had contacted with Somali president Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed and Prime Minister Mohamed Abdulahi (Farmajo) saying that he promised them to make complete search on the incident and bring to the justice to those who were the mastermind of the event as confirmed.

He lastly thanked to all the Somali people for working with them and helping the injured people rush to hospital to be treated requesting the people to misunderstand how the accident happened pointing out that AMISOM would never stop working for the Somalia people.
