Yemen Hands down Death Sentence to Somali Drug Dealer

The Primary Specialized Penal Court in Hadramout province sentenced on Sunday a Somali to death and three Yemenis to 25 years in jail each, in two separate cases when the four were found guilty of trading in drugs and resisting the police.

At the hearing, the court said Ali Yousuf Ibrahim, a Somali, had brought drug injections to Yemen to trade in them, sentencing him to death and displaying his body in public.

Ibrahim was arrested in June 2009 with 180 drug injections he smuggled into the country.

The Yemenis, Hamad Hunaish, Ahmed Jradan and Nayef Hunaish, were found guilty of possessing and trading in drugs as well as resisting the police.

The court said over 15 kg of drugs were seized when the three were arrested in December 2009 in Hadramout Valley, sentencing them to 25 years in prison each.
