Angelina Jolie Visits Somali Refugees At Tunisia-Libya Border

Angelina meets with Somali Refugees in Tunisia-Libya Border

Such a dangerous time for her to be taking such a trip, but these people desperately need help and she's the kind of woman who goes where she is needed.

Since February, hundreds of thousands of Libyan people have fled their country to escape the constant violence brought on by it's leader. Many of these refugees have found sanctuary in the bordering country of Tunisia and thankfully, the country has show nothing but friendship and understanding to these people.

This morning, in an effort to bring awareness to the brave people of Tunisia who have started relief operations for the refugees, Angelina Jolie visited the country and brought along with her a very important contribution from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation: safe passage for 177 people to return to their countries of origin and a brand new ambulance for one of the many relief centers aiding those Libyans who have been injured crossing the border.

In a statement about her visit, the Goodwill Ambassador said:

"The outpouring of generosity from the Tunisian people says so much for the future of this country. It is a sign of the openness sweeping across the region … We would encourage others, individuals and governments, to continue to support and assist with the needs on the ground."
Such a truly tragic situation, one we hope with the help of people like Angelina and the brave supporters in Tunisia, can come to an end soon.
