Somali govt' to host National Reconciliation Conference in June

As the mandate of Somali interim federal government is running out with expiring in August, TFG on Thursday proclaimed that it host Somali National Reconciliation in June.

After unusual lengthy meeting in the Somali capital Mogadishu, the cabinet announced that a reconciliation meeting for Somalis will be held in Mogadishu with the help of United Nations and international community on June 11 to 16.

“Before the holding of the main conference, the government will make different consultative meetings with all Somali community and political factions about the agendas of the National Reconciliation Conference based on consultation of self-determination” said Abdurrahman Omar Osman Yarisow, the information advisor of Somali prime minister told reporters in Mogadishu after the meeting.

“Somali government is ready for consultation, accountability real reconciliation with regional administrations, Ahlu Sunna Waljama ASWJ, traditional elders, intellectuals, civil society organizations, religious leaders and militant rebel group” Yarisow added reading the statement for the cabinet.

He noted the government will form high-level ministerial committee to organize and facilitate the meeting to be held in the capital.

The cabinet also talked about UN organized consultative meeting on Somalia, which on Wednesday was wrapped up in Kenya, and described as a fruitless meeting with ending in vain.
