‘Ansar Burney Trust follows UN laws’

Chairman Ansar Burney Trust International and former federal minister for human rights, Ansar Burney, has said that the amount collected from Pakistan and sent to the owner of the shipping company in Egypt to save 22 innocent lives including 4 Pakistanis and 6 Indians from terrorist Somali pirates was not ransom money but humanitarian aid.

According to a press release, Burney said that to pay ransom is illegal and against the UN laws and Ansar Burney Trust fully follows United Nations and its rules and regulations.

“This is the reason we never paid ransom to the cruel and inhuman Somali pirates in Somalia but in the greater interest of humanity and human dignity we gave this humanitarian aid to the shipping company to save 22 innocent human lives without any discrimination,” he added.

“Now this is the headache of the shipping company as to how it would save these 22 innocent lives from the clutches of pirates as always our struggle was to save innocent lives from any torture and terrorism,” he added.

International Ambassador for Peace and Human Rights, Ansar Burney, further said that $2.1 million have already reached in the bank account of the shipping company.

“This amount was collected in Pakistan to save 4 Pakistanis, 6 Indians, 11 Egyptians and one Sri Lankan on board,” he added.

He said the Ansar Burney Trust International does not believe in discrimination neither believe in caste, colour, creed, religion and nationality. He said Indian MP KD Singh has deceived him (Burney) and put 22 innocent lives in danger by not keeping his word regarding help in release of hostages. KD Singh has not fulfilled his promises he made to Ansar Burney and Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad, the press release said.

Ansar Burney said, “Indian MP’s delaying tactics had forced me to collect five hundred thousand dollars more and that we successfully did with the kind cooperation of Pakistani nation and Sindh Dr Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan and now this humanitarian fund has been transferred to the bank account of the shipping company in Egypt.”

He made it clear that the amount arranged and sent by the Ansar Burney Trust International to the shipping company in Egypt was humanitarian aid. He said the shipping company after getting the release of MV Suez from the Somali pirates would be able to arrange fuel, water, food for the ship and would make further arrangements about their travelling. He said 22 innocent people including 4 Pakistanis and 6 Indians have been in custody of Somali pirates for the last 10 months and have been treated inhumanly during the whole period.

Ansar Burney has once again asked the Pakistan government and India to take stern action against Somali pirates with the help of the US, Europe, Middle Eastern countries and United Nations.

Ansar Burney, in the greater interest of human dignity, has appealed to Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, to take stern action against the pirates to get safe and secure release of hundreds of innocent people from the private prisons of the enemies of humanity.

He said that the Somali pirates hold hundreds of Pakistanis, Indians and other nationals every month and such incidents are increasing day by day in the region. “It is not possible without the support of some neighbouring countries and organisations,” He added.

Ansar Burney said that Ansar Burney Trust is also working for the early release of dozens of other Pakistanis, Indians, Sri Lankans, Tanzanians and other nationals held by Somali pirates. He said Pakistani crew members are Syed Wasi Hassan, Ali Rehman, Syed Alam and Mohammad Muzammil and Indian crew members are NK Sharma, Satnam Singh, Parshad Chohan, Sachin Padoran, John Rose Bisco, and Ravinder Singh.

MV Suez was hijacked by the Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden on August 2, 2010, with 4 Pakistani, 6 Indians, 4 Sri Lankans and 11 Egyptians on board, said Burney. He said the Ansar Burney Trust has already have six more complaints regarding hijacked vessels with Pakistani, Indian, and other nationals on board and working hard to stop this menace and to get release all such vessels and crew members safe and secure from the clutches of Somali pirates as soon as possible.
