Somali Legendary singer passes away

Somalia’s most renowned  singer Mohamed Suleiman Tubeec has died at a German hospital after a long illness, the late Tubeec’s older son confirmed to the media on Tuesday.
The late Suleiman who was popularly known by the Somali people as the ‘King of the voice’ has been ailing at a hospital in Germany for the past several weeks and was expected to go under surgery.
His death was announced by his older Son early on Tuesday morning, although he did not mention whether his father’s body will be laid to rest in Germany or will be flown to Somalia.
The late Mohamed Suleiman Tubeec was born in Hargeisa in 1941. He had started his debut as a singer in his hometown before moving to the capital Mogadishu where he joined the Waberi Band.
When Somalia fell into anarchy in 1991, the late Suleiman fled to Switzerland where he lived until he was recently taken to Germany for medication where he finally passed away.
Meanwhile, Somalia’s federal government said it was shocked by the death of the country’s most renowned singer Mohamed Suleiman.

“Somali government is saddened by the news of the death of Mohamed Suleiman and on behalf of Somali government we are sending our heart-felt sympathy to the whole Somali people and in particularly to his family, relatives and friends” Somali Prime Minister Abdi Weli Sheik Ahmed said.
