allAfrica.com: Somalia: Students Sit for National Examination for the First Time Since 1991

More than seven thousand Somali Students sat for their final national school examination in the country since 1991 after the collapse of the central government.
Minister of Education, Khadra Bashir Ali and Minister of Information, Mohamed Abdi Hayer, have officially opened examination exercise in main center in the capital Mogadishu.
The Government officials inspected the exam centers in the capital Mogadishu where students were sitting for exams.
The security of the examination centers across the country was also beefed up following Al Shabaab threat to disrupt the exercise.
Smooth progress was also reported in examination centers in Galkacyo, Adado, Beledweyn, Jowhar and Baidoa cities.
This is the first national examination exercise conducted and facilitated by the government since the collapse of the central government in 1991.
