Rescued US ship Captain Richard Phillips is expected to be reunited with his crew in Kenya on Wednesday before flying home.

The International Maritime Bureau has praised the US rescue operation against Somali pirates as "robust action".

Captain Pottengai Mukundan, International Maritime Bureau, said, "If all flag states were to take that kind of robust action against the pirates we would not have the problems of Somali piracy to the extent that we have today."

But on Tuesday, Somali pirates captured two more ships.

A NATO spokesperson says a Lebanese-owned cargo ship and a Greek-managed vessel were attacked and captured by pirates in three or four speedboats.

Captain Mukundan says countries need to have very robust rules of engagement in place to enable the commanders of the naval vessels to interrogate ships which could be possible mother ships.

He also says monitoring the east coast is a big challenge, and ships may have to route further away from the Somali coast.
