Somalia: 3 Hijacked ships taken to North Somalia

Somali pirates have reportedly taken three hijacked ships,an Italian tugboat and two Egyptian ships close to a fishing village near a disputed area of northern Somalia, officials and residents said on Monday.

A local Somaliland commander said the Italian ship and two Egyptian vessels were taken to near the fishing village of Las Qoray late on Sunday

On the other hand, Abdullahi Sa’id Samatar, the security minister of the semi-autonomous region of Puntland held a press conference in the port town of Bosaso on Monday and demanded from the international community to support his administration to the pirates.

He said his administration needs to get coastal guards to fight the pirates. The majority of the Somali pirates come from Puntland north eastern Somalia.
