Heavy fighting leaves 20 people in Somali capital

More than 20 people have been killed and 30 others were wounded in hours of heavy fighting between soldiers of UN's backed government supported by AMISOM and Al-shabaab fighters that erupted in Somali capital of Mogadishu, Radio Garowe reports.

Fighting carried many casualties to innocent civilians which exploded in Hodan--northern part of Somalia, injured dozen people. Also a mortar hit the main busy Bakara market killed 5 civilians and injured 15 other.

According to witness who spoke with Garowe Online, heavy combat erupted in resident places.

No note from the both warring side.

“We collected 20 wounded from Bakara market, Hodan, yaaqshid, Wardhiigley and Karan, also we saw 9 dead bodies through our operation,” Ali Muse Sheikh of Mogadishu Ambulance Services said

Ali Muse stated most of them were seriously wounded and now they receiving medical consult in the hospital. Madina and Dayniile hospital obtained more 50 injured people.

Meanwhile, Somali soldier was killed in fighting between TFG and the insurgent group in Hamarweyne—where Somali government controls.

Fighting between insurgents linked to Al-Qaeda and pro-government security forces backed by AU/AMISON has killed thousands of Somalis and displaced hundreds of thousands more, mostly from the capital Mogadishu.
