Somali man who left US to join al-Shabab now in ICE custody

A man who left the U.S. in 2007 and joined the terror group al-Shabab in Somalia has been released from federal prison, but is now in the custody of U.S. immigration officials.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Thursday that 31-year-old Abdifatah Yusuf Isse will be detained pending the outcome of removal proceedings before an immigration judge.
Isse is a legal U.S. resident but not an American citizen. He's among roughly 22 young Somali men who've left Minnesota since 2007 to join the terrorist group in Somalia. His attorney has said he's working on resolving the immigration issue.
Isse pleaded guilty in 2009 to one count of providing material support to terrorists. He was sentenced to three years in prison, with credit for time served and good behavior.
