Somalia: Al-Shabab order women to cover their body

al-Shabab Islamists in Baidoa town, the former parliamentary seat in south western Somalia has ordered all women to take veil and ordered all business people to close their business centers at the time of the prayers, officials said on Wednesday.

Sheik Abdi Aziz, member of Al-shabab officials in Bay and Bakol regions told the reporters in Baidoa town that they issued many edicts banning from the women in Baidoa to take soft clothes.

He said that they ordered all women in Baidoa to take veil and Yashmak.

“Women wearing transparent clothes can not be seen in the town and also walk through the streets in the town,” Abdi Aziz said.

We are also telling all the business people to close the doors of their business centers in the town during the times of prayers,” he added.

They Islamists said they jail 12 hours if they see a mown without veil. It is unclear how these decrees will be effective in the town though many several edicts had filed already.
