Somalia: Al-shabab Islamists shut Hawala companies

The closure of the companies in Kismayo came after the Shabab issued an order to close the companies.

Some Hawala company managers, who refused to be named, said their companies were closed after they rejected to participate in projects in the city by the Islamists

Reports from the city say that there efforts to reopen the Hawala companies.

It is the first time that the Islamists close the companies since they took control the city last August after heavy fighting with pro government local militias which killed seventy people.
