Somali Government Official Gunned Down By Soldier

One of the Somalia transitional federal government officials was gunned down by a government soldier, a government official confirmed on Monday.

Hassan Kumiye Alasow, the deputy of Mogadishu’s Bondhere district commissioner, was killed by a soldier in the Bondhere district, Ali Hilowe Omar, the deputy chairman of Banadir region, told a local radio station.

“It is not known the reason, but the government is now hectic in investigating how and what caused a government soldier to kill a government official” said Hilowle Omar, declining to give further details.

It is the first time such event to occur in the Somali transitional government. Meanwhile, Bondhere is one of the districts in the capital city, where government forces are combating with al Shabaab militants for more than six months.
