Somali shopkeeper killed in petrol bomb attack

A Somali shopkeeper has died and another has sustained burn wounds after their shop in Delft, Cape Town was petrol bombed on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred after two armed men entered the Milano Spaza Shop in Tubelitsha.

Thirty-year-old Idiris Haji died on the scene.

The police’s Joe Wilson said shots were also fired.

“The one suspect produced a firearm and fired two shots at the one shopkeeper. The suspect then threw a petrol bomb inside the premises, setting it alight,” he explained.

Police added that nothing was taken from the shop, but they do suspect the attack was part of a botched robbery.
