Al Shabaab threatens to retaliate for Mogadishu victims harmed by Somali soldiers

Somalia’s Al Qaeda-inspired group Al Shabaab on Tuesday proclaimed that it will increase attacks against Somali government forces and African Union peacekeepers in retaliation for Mogadishans injured in a shooting spree by Somali soldiers.

Sheikh Ali Mohamoud Rage, the spokesman for Al Shabaab, during a press conference in Mogadishu, accused the Somali government and AU forces of committing repeated arbitrary and meaningless killings against Somalia civilians.

Rage called on the group’s fighters to react soon about what he called Mogadishu’s Benadir junction genocide by attacking the military bases of Somali army and African Union troops.

“The invading Africa Christians and their apostate government are contemplating new plans in which they intended to commit mass killing against all Somali people,” the spokesman said.

On Monday, at least 17 people were killed and more than 81 injured after Somali government soldiers fired anti-aircraft weapons in the Benadir junction in Mogadishu.

Somali MPs and Mogadishu traditional elders slammed Somali soldiers’ shooting spree.
