Somali pirates release Sri Lankan fishermen with their vessel

Three Sri Lankan fishermen taken by the Somali pirates have been released, authorities said today.

"The fishermen had contacted one of our offices in south and informed that they have been released," Fisheries Ministry spokesman Narendra Rajapksha told PTI.

It will take more than a week to reach them to the country, he said.

Earlier, two of the five fishermen were shot and killed by the Somali pirates on board the vessel "Drshana Putha 6" which left the country on January 4.
