Somalia: Government displays Islamist fighters captured in the fighting

Somalia’s government has shown reports in Mogadishu on Sunday five Islamist fighters captured in Saturday and Friday’s fighting in Mogadishu.

Afrah Ali Afrah, a deputy commander of the national security forces said they captured the five fighters in latest fighting in Mogadishu.

Three of the captured fighters were very young and some of them were slightly injured in the fighting.

Mr. Afrah said they captured the militias from Hawlwadag and Karan districts in Mogadishu. The government soldiers attacked on Saturday bases of the Islamist rebels in Hawlwadag district in Mogadishu.

One of the militia told reports that he was captured in Hawlwadag district, fighting against the government soldiers on Saturday.

Sheik Abdirahman Mohamed Qeilow, a spokesman for the pro government Islamists said they had other prisoners, some of the them injured, in hospitals in Mogadishu.
