Somalia: Security minister with more troops reaches in Hiraan region

Somalia’s security minister with more government soldiers trained in Ethiopia has reached in Kalabeyr key junction about 20 km north of Beledweyne in Hiraan region in central Somalia, witnesses and officials said on Tuesday.

Colonel Omar Hashi Aden, the security minister of the Somali government has been in Ethiopia for the last two weeks amassing troops there.

A government official traveling with the minister, who refused to be named, because he was not authorized to speak to media told Mareeg that they were heading to the towns that the rebels control.

The move comes as there has been a campaign against the rebels in the Somali towns bordering with Ethiopia.

Sources said that more government soldiers led by Colonel Barre Aden Shire are heading to lower Jubba region controlled by al Shabaab and Hisbul Islam rebels.
