Somalia:Al Shabaab executes a man in Baidoa

Al Shabaab militants who control Baidoa town, the former seat of Somalia’s Parliament, in south western Mogadishu has executed a man accused of killing another man in the town before and flogged four other people in the town, officials said on Tuesday.

Sheik Hassan Adan, the deputy judge of Bay region told reporters that they sentenced execution to Hussein Hassan Nor, the man accused of killing another man in the Baidoa before.

The judge has also told reporters that the accused man was killed in the town and that they have also flogged four other people including a woman who were accused of different kinds of crimes that they committed in the town.

It is the second execution that al Shabaab administrators in Baidoa fulfilled since they seized the town in late January 2009.

Baidoa was the seat of Somali parliament for two years before the Ethiopian troops withdrew. The parliament is currently based in Mogadishu but they can not meet for security reasons.
