Somalia: Parents Appeal From Somali And Libyan Governments to Release Their Children in Libya

Duho Artan, a Somali mother, one of the parents whose children are detained in Libyan jails has Friday requested from the both Libya and Somali government to release their children and return to their country.

Duho said that it is very important for the heads of Somalia and Libya not to discuss only the political affairs, asking to talk how they would play crucial role for the humanitarian situation and release the Somali teenagers who are in the prisons of Libya.

"We are also requesting from the human right organizations to visit the jails in Libya pointing out that there are more Somali teenagers who are in a critical conditions and in prisons. Some of them are ill in the jails," Dhuho said.

Shukri Aden Gure, one of the parents whose children were jailed in Libya said that their children often contact with them saying that they inform to them that they are required a ransom for their release adding that they have no money to let their children release.

The request of the Somali parents comes as more than 600 Somali teenagers contacted to Shabelle radio recently and said that they are threatened in the Libyan jails.
