Somalia: Mortars kill about 10 civilians in Mogadishu after Parliament House Attacked

At least 8 civilians have been killed and 15 others have been injured in Mogadishu on Saturday after Islamist rebels attacked mortars to the parliament centre in Mogadishu, witnesses said.

One government soldier has also been killed and three others have been injured in mortar attacks to the temporary house of the Somali parliament in Mogadishu.

The parliamentarians were meeting in the house when the mortars fell near the centre of the parliament in Mogadishu.

Somalia’s Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmake, has also attended today’s meeting.

The mortars hit residential areas and missed their target of the parliament house.

No group has claimed the responsibility of the attack yet, but such attacks are the work of Islamist rebels who are fighting against the fragile government of Somalia.
