Somalia: Three clerics killed in central Somalia

Three Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a clerics have been killed in Jawle town in Galgadud region in central Somalia, witnesses said on Thursday.

Witnesses said the clerics were by al-Shabab militants in the town. It is not known why the clerics were targeted, but there has been fighting between Ahlu Walja’ama adherents and the Shabab in central Somalia.

Sources say a clan elder was also killed by al-shabab.

Residents in Jawle town have expressed concern and fear about the fresh hostility in the town. Sources said the Shabab have attacked the town and captured.

Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a is a religious organization that does not have any political ambition but al-Shabab is fighting for to rule Somalia and impose Sharia Law.

Ahlu Sunna Waljam’a organization supports the Somali government which its parliament endorsed the Islamic Sharia and many different parts of the society welcomed, but the Shabab rejected and described it as “hypocritical”
