The Somali defense minister of Somalia Mohamed Abdi Gandi said on Friday that the French government pledged to train Somali government soldiers after he had a meeting with French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner in Paris.

The minister thanked France for its efforts of taking part the rebuilding efforts of Somalia.
He said that Somali government gives the first priority of building Somali national forces the police and the military to restore the stability of the country.
France also promised to help the Somali government to reconcile with the opposition.
