One child has been killed and four others have been injured by a mortar shell in Mogadishu overnight, witnesses said on Sunday.
Salad Mohamed Farah, the father of the bereaved family said his young son was killed by the mortar shell.
“A mortar was fired to the foreign troops based in K4 area, referring to the Ugandan troops, and fired back heavy gunfire. My seven year old child has been killed and four others of my children have been wounded,” said Farah the father of the bereaved family.
He said his family has recently returned back to the capital Mogadishu from Garisa after they heard the withdrawal of the Ethiopian troops.
“We fled to Garisa in north eastern Kenya when the Ethiopian troops invaded to Somalia, I lived in Taleh neighbourhood in Mogadishu for 19 years and it seems that the fighting has not stopped yet so this is unfortunate for the Somali people,” he said.
The mortar shelling reminds the people of Mogadishu the two year occupation of the Ethiopian troops.
