Somalia: Armed groups attack al-Shabab base in southern town

Armed groups have attacked a base of al-Shabab Islamists in Hudur town and the airport of the town overnight, witnesses said on Saturday.

Sources say that heavy fighting erupted between al-Shabab and the armed groups who attacked the town and the fighting was continuing for 30 minutes.

Residents said that the fighting was a heavy one and the two sides exchanged heavy gun fire. A civilian woman was injured by stray bullet in the town, and no other casualties have been reported.

There no word from al-shabab Islamists who control Bay and Bakol regions in south western Somalia.
