Somalia: President condemns mortar attacks on parliament

Somalia’s president Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed has condemned Saturday the mortar attacks that recently targeted the centre of the parliament

In a press conference he held in the presidential palace in Mogadishu, the president said he was very sorry about recent shelling on parliament and sent condolences to the bereaved families.

Asked bout the arrival of the opposition leader Sheik Hassan Dahor Aweys, he replied that there is political difference between them and that he was ready to talk with him about his political view.

President Sharif also declared that Sudanese government talked Aweys about the reconciliation process.

He said that he has been to Turkey, Egypt, and Belgium and those countries pledged for him to support his government.

President Sheik Sharif also welcomed the decision of the Somali parliament which endorsed the Islamic Sharia.
