Somalia: Eleven children die in heavy rains in Mogadishu and its outskirts

At least eleven Somali children died in the Somali capital Mogadishu and its outskirts after torrential rains have been raining in Mogadishu and near by regions for six constant hours, witnesses said on Thursday.

Relatives said three children died in Bondhere district in Mogadishu after a wall collapsed on them. Three other children died in Daynile district when their make shift hut was swept by winds of the rain that has been raining in Mogadishu.

A mother of five children who fled from the fighting between the government and the Islamist rebels in Mogadishu said three of her children were killed by the heavy rain in Ealsha Villge 20 kilometers south of Mogadishu.

More than 140 people were killed and 300 were wounded in the fighting between the government soldiers and two allied Islamist groups-al Shabaab and Hisbul Islam. Aid Agencies say 400,000 people were displaced in the fighting
